Just who is this world's first virtual "Flat Stanley"?
Why is he traveling around the world?
What is Pitcher Park?

My name is Mary Pitcher and on July 15, 2008, two of my four sons passed away when they drowned at Kinzua Reservoir in Pennsylvania. Stephen was 19 and Vincent was 21.  They were on a camping trip with their father and a few friends.  Vincent, who was fishing on shore, swam out to save Stephen.  They found them seven hours later, 100 feet deep, Vincent was still holding onto his little brother.  I did my job as a Mother I know now, as with four sons, I knew that I couldn't be every where with them, so I taught them all to watch out for each other. Vincent died a hero. Although they are  both gone, some how knowing that they are together does give me some peace, but the emptiness in my heart is something I can not even begin to verbalize to anyone.

Their remaing two brothers, Jonathan 28 and Brady 25, myself, thousands of friends, and our community have come together to build a memorial skatepark in their honor to be called "Pitcher Park".
It is a way for us all to try and heal from this tragedy and a way to help our community and the surrounding communities to give the children and young adults a safe place to skate, bike and in-line skate in a city type setting where currently there is nothing and they skate in very dangerous conditions.  The average income per household in the community is $44,000.00, both parents work and many are struggling especially now in this economic time just to keep food on the table and utilities on.

The Borough of Dormont, which is a suburb bordered by the City of Pittsburgh and located in Allegheny County in Southwestern Pennsylvania, has donated the land for the skate park along Banksville Road, but now the Pitcher Park group must raise the funding for the approximately 15,000 sq foot skate park expected to cost approximately $500,000.00.  The Tony Hawk Foundation has seen the dedication & hard work of the Pitcher Park group and has awarded us a $10,000.00 grant to spur us on to our goal! We have also raised $15,000.00 with small fundraisers in our town.

Many children, young adults and even adults have become complacent because they see the state of our economy & feel as though nothing can be changed.  Our mission is to show the youth that they do matter and if they dream big, work hard, and aren’t afraid to reach out for help, that anything is possible. The average income per household in the community is $44,000.00, both parents work and many are struggling just to keep food on the table and utilities on. There are many “at risk” youth and we are engaging them in this project. They are working hard,  have planned many events to raise money, and we are now reaching out to the world for help with this project.

Our "Virtual Flat Stanley" is being sent out into the "VIRTUAL UNIVERSE"  today with the hope that you or your company can help our loving endeavor!  Please take Flat Stanley to work or school with you , put him on a donation box,  pass him around to family members,  or approach management with him to see if they will contribute money, donations for a charity auction, building materials or support our project any way they can. Pitcher Park Memorial Skate Park is a 501(c)3 in association with New Sun Rising and receipts for donations will be sent immediately upon request.

Feel free to copy, cut out, make your own & personalize "Virtual FLAT STANLEY" to make him COME ALIVE!  Let your imagination run (reasonably) wild!   i.e. ADD YOUR FACE, DRESS HIM DOWN, TAKE A PICTURE WITH HIM, POSE HIM, CHANGE HIS CLOTHES, RACE, WHAT EVER! :) He enjoys dating, a good movie, concerts or just a quiet walk on the beach! Stanley works hard all week & likes to go to Church on Sunday, but he's Non- denominational! :)  He likes all sports from extreme to bird calling.  He may seem a little flat, but Stanley is actually a very well rounded little guy!

Just scan in your pictures or send us video (oh my! what fun!)  and send them back to us (CLICK HERE) so we can post them, announce information about your donation and STANLEY'S LOCATION IN THE VIRTUAL UNIVERSE!
(Click here to contact us!) or  (To donate on line)

THANK YOU!  It is our hope that Flat Stanley will CIRCLE THE GLOBE!

SEND HIM ON TO ANOTHER CITY FOR US, PLEASE!
